C4isr, the Finc Methodology, and Operations in Urban Terrain

چکیده
In this paper, we describe the FINC methodology for analysing C4ISR and NCW architectures. We utilise the “Black Hawk Down” incident in Mogadishu as a case study, in order to demonstrate how the FINC Intelligence Coefficient metric is calculated. We show how the FINC methodology can be used to evaluate possible improvements to the C4ISR architecture used in Mogadishu, and to NCW architectures more generally.

C4ISR Architectures, Social Network Analysis and the FINC Methodology: An Experiment in Military Organisational Structure
In this paper we present a simple testbed for experimenting with C4ISR architectures (based on a “SCUD hunt” scenario), the FINC methodology for analysing C4ISR architectures, and some experimental results. The testbed allows us to explore different organisational architectures under a range of conditions. The FINC (Force, Intelligence, Networking and C2) methodology allows the calculation of t...
متن کاملApplying the FINC (Force, Intelligence, Networking and C2) Methodology to the Land Environment
In this paper we re-examine the FINC (Force, Intelligence, Networking and C2) methodology for analysing C4ISR architectures, studying its applicability to hierarchical organisational structures in the Land environment. For this study we utilise a search-and-manoeuvre experimental scenario, implemented using an agent-based simulation written in Java. The FINC methodology allows the calculation o...
متن کاملHuman Terrain: A Tactical Issue or a Strategic C4I Problem?
The term “human terrain” was coined recently by the Army in response to critical needs for information about the individuals, groups and the workings of the society in general in Iraq. The call for help and the response to date has focused on tactical operations, but it is essential to consider the possibility that the tactical need points to a strategic issue for the C4ISR community. In this p...
متن کاملResearch Plan Development for Modeling and Simulation of Military Operations in Urban Terrain
The transformation of the US Army to the Objective Force will rely heavily upon the use of modeling and simulation (M&S) for analysis, including assessment of our ability to fight in urban environments. Current model research for military operations in urban terrain (MOUT) is disjoint. Current models are judged to be insufficient as a foundation for simulation of urban operations. The Army Mode...
متن کاملUrban network risk assessment using Fuzzy-AHP and TOPSIS in GIS environment
Risk assessment of urban network using traffic indicators determines vulnerable links with high danger of traffic incidents. Thus Determination of an appropriate methodology remains a big challenge to achieve this objective. This paper proposed a methodology based on data fusion concept using Fuzzy-AHP and TOPSIS to achieve this aim. The proposed methodology tries to overcome two main problems,...
